Just returned from a cold and rainy week in Tunisia, and more specifically, the capital city Tunis. It's been a while since I last visited an African destination, but found the atmosphere to be more distinctly Arab than African.

Apart from spending most of my time wandering through the alleys and souks of Medina de Tunis (the old-town area), I also managed a day-trip to a coastal village north of Tunis called Sidi Bou Said. Sidi Bou Said is known as a white and blue village in a Mediterranean Andalusian type style. While it is undeniably pretty and may appeal to some, I found it to be a bit to "sanitized" and touristy to my liking.

I was also planning a one-day visit a village called Er Riadh on the island of Djerba. This village is known for its 250-odd pieces of street art done on invitation by various street artists in 2014. Regrettably, after a cold early morning rise, rush to the airport and confusing check-in procedures, our departing flight was delayed by at least three hours for undefined reasons. Highly pissed-off and disappointed, I was forced to cancel this trip as a result. It's a pity, as I was looking forward to a day of interesting and different photography opportunities.
